Hawaii's Statewide AIDS Housing Agency

Gregory House Programs is committed to the ongoing assessment and development of programs that meet the housing needs of persons living with HIV/AIDS throughout Hawaii, because housing is healthcare. Our deepest hope is for a cure for HIV, the end of homelessness, and the day when Gregory House Programs will no longer be needed. Until then, Gregory House Programs will continue to do whatever is needed to ease the impact on those who have been infected and affected with HIV/AIDS.

Housing is Healthcare. Stable, permanent housing is essential to long term survival with HIV/AIDS. Housing is essential to healthcare because, in its absence, it is virtually impossible to maintain access to healthcare, adhere to strict medication regimens and maintain proper nutrition. Persons living with HIV/AIDS in Hawaii are facing record high housing costs and long waiting lists for public, subsidized housing, placing them and their families at imminent risk of homelessness. Alarmingly, one out of three persons living with HIV/AIDS faces the dilemma of having to choose between healthcare, food, and housing. Unfortunately, having one can mean giving up the other two. For this reason, 65% of persons living with HIV/AIDS say that housing is their most important need.

The mission of Gregory House Programs is to provide housing and supportive services on a long term, temporary or respite basis for persons who are displaced due to the impact of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome Virus in their lives and to provide access to appropriate public and private support services.
