Nutrition
Gregory House Programs' Save the FoodBasket program provides nutrition services to more than 250 individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS. Home deliveries of groceries are provided once a month to those who are home bound or in rural areas with no transportation. Food distribution and hot lunches are provided twice a week at a church centrally located in Honolulu near bus lines. Twice a week (every Tuesday and Wednesday except the first week of the month) hot lunches are served, and at that same time program participants can pick up supplemental groceries that include fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meats, and of course canned goods. Consumers with dependent family members are provided with an extra allotment of food. Other services include limited toiletries and cleaning supplies, nutrition classes, and nutrition counseling.
We’d like to thank the many Volunteers who take time out of their busy lives to help provide these services for our clients. Take a look at our slideshow demonstrating a typical day at the food basket!
