​Joe Pineda lived with an abundance of love. He shared this generously with his family, friends, and across communities where he lived and worked. His untimely death in 2023 is a profound loss for all who knew him. In his professional career, he worked as a realtor to find people their dream homes. As a volunteer, he championed civil rights equality and a vision that housing is healthcare. Joe innately understood that whether it was helping someone to buy their first condo or creating a pathway out of homelessness, everyone deserves to be treated with dignity.

The Story of Joey's Place

The Fund for Joey’s Place is established to rename a transitional housing apartment complex located at 1096-98 Young Street in Honolulu. This facility is owned and operated by Gregory House Programs, providing safe housing and links to a wide array of care and supportive services for men and women exiting homelessness. The goal is to build skills and heal trauma so that a person can get on their way to stable permanent housing.
